The retreating glaciers resulted in the classic U shape of the valleys. These geological marvels are scattered across the southwestern part of the country, each boasting its own distinctive charm. From Geirangerfjord to Aurlandsfjord, Romsdalsfjord to Sognefjord, and more, the fjords create a breathtaking of landscapes.

Geirangerfjord - A UNESCO World Heritage Site -
Geirangerfjord, is one of the most famous fjord in Norway. Its deep blue waters are cradled by towering cliffs crowned with snow. The drive from Ornisvegen to Geiranger was both thrilling and scenic, treating us to hairpin bends and stunning vistas. You can choose to go on fjord cruise from Geirager to Hellyselt to fully immerse ourselves in the fjord's enchanting beauty.

You can choose from multiple accommodation options in Geiranger . Eidsdal and Stylte are beautiful villages located a short drive away.
Things to do -
The small town of Geiranger has a lot to offer- some great hotels, restaurants and spas.
Ørnevingsen Viewpoint - panoramic view of the Geiranger Fjord.
Norsk Fjordsenter / Norwegian Fjord center - playground, restaurant and toilets are available here.
Fossevandring Geiranger - waterfall that goes down along the town of Geiranger. There is a walkway built along the fall which is a fun activity to do with kids.
Flydalsjuvet - short drive from Geiranger, its a viewpoint offering stunning views of Geiranger and the Geiranger fjord.
Dalsnibba - viewpoint at an altitude of around 1500 m above sea level, provides stunning views of Geiranger Fjord.
Aurlandfjord -
Aurlandfjord's gorgeous blue waters and dramatic scenery left us in awe. The narrow road leading to the Stegastein viewpoint is an adventure in itself, winding through charming villages and pastoral scenes with grazing sheep. Flam village, nestled along the fjord, is part of the popular - Norway in a nutshell tour.

Possible day trip option from Hafslo and Bergen.

Stegastein view point - viewing point located 650 mts above the Aurlandsfjord. Enjoy the stunning scenery all around.
Lærdalstunnelen - the longest tunnel is Norway (25 kms long), located on the E16 highway.

Romdalsfjord -
Thanks to the Romdalsgondolen, it is now super easy and takes just a few minutes to reach the snow capped Nesaksla mountain and admire the 360 degree views of this fjord. This fjord's allure compelled us to trek around, providing different angles to admire its majesty. The experience, especially with kids, is unforgettable.

Rauma municipality has some great airbnb options, all within a few minutes driving distance.

Innvikfjorden, another hidden gem, unfolded its beauty as we ascended through Loen Skylift.

Lustrafjorden -
As we ventured along the National Tourist Road 55 (Sognefjellet), we found ourselves bidding a fond farewell to the fjord region of Norway. The drive from Gaupne to Skjolden along Route 55 gifted us with uninterrupted vistas that stretched across the fjord, painting a stunning picture of Norway's natural beauty. Lustrafjorden is a part of Sognefjord.
With every twist and turn of the road, our eyes were treated to breathtaking views of Lustrafjorden . As we drove inward, the fjord gradually receded from our view, but its beauty remained imprinted on our minds.
