No matter how much time I get to spend in Switzerland, it's never enough! There's so much to see and do that no amount of time ever feels sufficient. However, Switzerland is expensive, and for those who take time off work to travel, it's essential to pack as much adventure, food, culture, nature, and experiences as possible into a limited number of days. We explored this beautiful country in 10 days, striving to find the perfect balance for our family. Here is a perfect itinerary that is easy to execute with kids and fun for everyone!
DAY 1 :
Arrive in Lucerne or Zurich and take some time to relax.
Essential Tasks:
Buy the Swiss Travel Pass or rent your car.
Purchase a SIM card .
Visit a supermarket to stock up on groceries for the next day's sightseeing.
After completing these important tasks, it's crucial to get a good rest after your long flight. This will ensure you can start fresh and energized the next day.
DAY 2 :
Head to Mount Rigi, an excursion included in the Swiss Travel Pass. The cogwheel train makes several stops before reaching the mountain top, allowing you to get off at any point and hop back on later if you have a ticket to the summit. There are numerous hiking trails around, catering to all fitness levels, offering a great way to explore the stunning scenery at your own pace.
Considering Mount Pilatus or Mount Titlis? Both offer a 50% discount with the Swiss Travel Pass (STP). Unfortunately, we missed visiting either due to rain forecasted at the mountain tops during our stay. It's always wise to check the weather and visibility conditions on the mountain's website before planning your trip. If it's cloudy up there, consider rescheduling for another day.
